Advanced Permission Module

Backstop’s Advanced Permission Module is a powerful tool that makes it possible for users to create and manage extensive permission and data restriction controls. It enhances the core set of user rights and permissions available out-of-the-box.

The Advanced Permission Module makes it easy for administrators to configure data rights security across the user group using four levels of accessibility rights: None, Read, Modify, and Full.

  • None: the user cannot see the entity in the system, the entity is grayed out in the search bar
  • Read:  the user can see information but cannot change it
  • Modify: the user can see and change information but cannot delete it
  • Full: the user can see, change and delete information

With APM, users are divided into Groups and Entities (people, organizations, accounts, notes, etc.) are grouped into Buckets. Using the APM dashboard, administrators can assign users to Permission Groups and create Buckets into which users can assign entities as they create or update them. Group membership controls whether the user can view, modify or delete entities in assigned Permission Buckets. Groups can also be constructed by location or other defining characteristic.
